I’m Sheikha Fatima Barkatulla.

An Islamic scholar and author, based in London (UK), who teaches the Raising Believers Islamic Parenting Masterclass.

I’m a mother of four: an adult and two teenage sons - two of whom have memorised the entire Qur’an - and a school-aged daughter. I empower parents with practical advice and transformational insights from the Qur’an, Sunnah and teachings of our scholars to help them confidently raise God-centred families so that they can fulfil their duty as caretakers and shepherds of the next generation of Believers.

In 2017 I began developing this course, Raising Believers, to help people achieve more confidence, and gain the tools and practical Islamic guidance regarding raising Muslim children properly. I’ve authored two ground-breaking children’s book: Khadijah: First Lady of Islam and Aisha: In the Prophet’s ﷺ Heart (soon to be published). I have two Classical Islamic Studies licences (Alimiyyah degrees) from Ebrahim College and Al Salam Institute respectively. I have a Masters degree with Distinction in Islamic Law from the Law School at SOAS (School of Oriental and African Studies) at the University of London.

I raised my children here in the heart of London to be multi-lingual, with Arabic as one of their languages and to memorise all or large portions of the Qur’an. Some of my children are now active in university Islamic Societies (MSAs) and lead prayers and taraweeh. Alhamdulillah.

I have experienced the struggles of raising children in this environment and have researched parenting and child nurturing extensively. I also know the joy of raising children who are confident and thriving leaders in our community.
